Sir: Her Majesty’s consul at New York having represented to me that he has been requested by the parties at that place interested in the prize vessel Peterhoff to solicit my interposition with the United States government with a view to obtain a delay in the sale of that vessel and its cargo until appeal can be had to the Supreme Court of the United States, I do myself the honor to ask you to take the subject into consideration.
