320. Editorial Note

On April 19, 1966, President Johnson signed into law House Joint Resolution 997, “To support United States participation in relieving victims of hunger in India and to enhance India’s capacity to meet the nutritional needs of its people.” Johnson noted that the legislation supported and endorsed his recent offer to enlarge food shipments to India to help offset the worst drought of the century. He called upon the governments of other countries to join in the effort to meet the disaster.
