171. Editorial Note
At his April 29 press conference, President Eisenhower commented favorably on a proposal by Senator Fulbright to appropriate $1.5 billion a year for 5 years for the Development Loan Fund. Eisenhower also noted that he accepted the principle of long-range commitment and believed such a commitment could save the United States money.
