209. Editorial Note

On March 9, the Department of the Navy directed United States Naval forces in the Eastern Atlantic and Mediteranean that no United States Navy or military supply ships would transit the Suez Canal (scheduled to reopen on March 15) until an agreement was reached, satisfactory to the United States Government, regarding tolls and other interim arrangements for the operation of the Canal.
