Editorial Note
Telegram 622 from Karachi, February 15, transmitted the Pakistani draft of its official request for military aid from the United States. Telegram 675 to Karachi, February 17, informed the Embassy the Department of State was pleased with the Pakistani draft request and did not ask for any changes in the text. The Department considered the text of the request a suitable basis for a public announcement, although it suggested that the text might be shortened for that purpose. Telegram 647 from Karachi, February 19, transmitted the text of the public announcement to be made by the Government of Pakistan requesting military aid.
