903. Ushic 31. Neth Amb called at his request on Secy handing him fol Memo:

[Here follows text of memorandum on New Guinea, not printed.] Secy assured Neth Amb this matter would receive Dept’s careful study.

Neth Amb then dilated on pol and mil situation Indo and its effect on Indo Reps Hague covering virtually identical considerations embodied in note previously handed Asst Secy for Europe. (Ushic 27²)

Secy replied that Dept had given this matter careful study and that Beam was discussing this and related matters with Soekarno Oct 18. Neth Amb expressed gratification and asked to be informed result Beam’s conversations.
