2006. Chen Li-fu13 called by appointment October 25 with announced purpose discussing critical situation China. Anticipating from him constructive ideas for improving situation, I found him only with what might be described as tearful pleas for US aid to China in struggle against international communism.
Chen’s visit is to me indicative of befuddlement in high Chinese Government circles and of obvious inability present Chinese Government leaders to take any measures to help themselves.
