800.014 Antarctic/11–148: Telegram
The Ambassador in Argentina (Bruce) to the Secretary of State
1064. In Foreign Office note1 referring two memoranda, one delivered by Green2 and other received Embassy Washington,3 proposing internationalization Antarctic by trusteeship and condominium, Government rejects proposals advanced even as basis discussion. Reason given is national territory such as Argentine Antarctic could in no case be incorporated into international regime. Adds that Government desirous collaborating solution general problem and will omit no effort assist definitive friendly settlement.
