Ambassador Corrigan is quite worried because of the failure of the opposition … to find a candidate for the presidential elections, scheduled for December 14.…
Dr. Corrigan feels that if the only rival of Gallegos should be the Communist candidate Machado, the opposition elements would have no safety valve, a situation which would seriously increase the chances of revolution.
