247. Embs 346 May 9. In view stock position Peru, Dept Agri has told Peruvians they are now permitted buy 10,000 tons flour for as early shipment as can be arranged. Peruvian Emb says flour acceptable. Most other countries taking a far larger percent of imports in form of flour than is Peru.
US July export program just announced includes 8,500 tons wheat for Peru.
It is hoped that these emergency allocations will improve Peru’s bargaining position in its current negotiations with Argentina.
