388. My telegram 387, May 19.39 Chilean Air Force also informs me that they desire utilize balance between one million dollars authorized and expenditures covering delivery air equipment already in [Page 524] Chile to purchase eight Beechcraft AT–11’s and 556,000 rounds 50 caliber ammunition which they state would cover one year’s training. Shipping expenses will be for account of Chilean Government.

Air Attaché40 urgently recommending to his superiors that Beech-crafts and ammunition be supplied to Chile. I strongly concur.41
