The Ambassador in China (Stuart) to the Secretary of State

104. Communist delegation leader Wang Ping-nan called on me this morning to state that reply had been received from Yenan that if Government accepts Communists’ two demands (abolition of National Assembly and Constitution and return to military position of January 13, 1946) Communist Party would immediately send delegation to Nanking to resume negotiations and that there was no need to send Government emissaries to Yenan.
