ReDeptel 28, January 7, 7 p.m.69 Embassy has made urgent and strong representations to high and influential officials, including Foreign Office and Air Ministry, against Air Minister’s70 order revoking authority for additional flights by Pan-American Airways over Barreiras cut-off. I am informed by excellent source that General Dutra71 is sympathetic to our point of view, and likewise understand that predominant sentiment in Air Ministry, military as well as civilian, supports our view. Accordingly expect favorable action to be taken in cancelling latest order and am continuing to press for urgent action to facilitate planning of flights and schedules.
