93. Foreign Minister59 told me he had read entire release on Argentina and wished to send his personal congratulations on this notable work. He said everybody was familiar with rumors of complicity but was stunned with such overwhelming proof. He referred to Argentine leaders in most derogatory terms and mentioned Ibarra García60 recalling his two visits to President Amezaga with assurances of democracy and American solidarity.

He said President Amezaga had not yet read release but had asked him specifically to request Department to furnish him any information as to individuals, newspapers and companies similarly involved in Uruguay.
