My Dear Mr. Secretary: The receipt is acknowledged of your letter of June 27, 1946,17 regarding the necessity of providing the War Department with funds to continue the Chinese Air Force Training Program after June 30, 1946.
[Page 781]Reference is made in this connection to my letter of July 10, 1946,18 in which it was stated that on June 29, 1946, a check for $4,000,000 was delivered by representatives of the Chinese Government to the War Department as an initial payment in support of the Air Force Training Program after June 30, 1946. The Department of State will continue to make every effort to obtain from the Chinese Government the balance due so that there will be no interruption in the program.
