1257. Wang Shih-chieh told the Counselor last evening that no progress is being made in negotiations with the Communists. (Paragraph 3 our 1158, July 48.) Latter’s representative here stating that anticipated instructions from Yenan have not been received. Wang expressed opinion that Communist leaders were waiting outcome of Hunan fighting before making reply to Generalissimo’s “counter proposals”.
