500. Soong’s chief henchman in China Defence Supplies here stated privately that the “dust storm” in regard to Soong is blowing over. The Director of European Department of Foreign Office says, also privately, that he thinks Soong will continue on with Foreign Office and suggests as good evidence that when Soong reported on China’s foreign affairs at weekly memorial service March 20 he was openly commended for his report by Chiang Kai-shek. Soong has not yet, however, begun to attend or give usual functions, although he has been going to the Foreign Office for short period almost every day.
