1674. During a call this afternoon on the Chief of the American Section of the Foreign Office I referred to the Ambassador’s letter of April 21 to Mr. Molotov in regard to the invitation extended to the [Page 41] Soviet Government to undertake the informal talks outlined in part 2 of the Department’s 959, April 19, 5 p.m.
I expressed the hope that the Soviet Government could give early and favorable consideration to this matter and asked that it be brought to the attention of Mr. Molotov. This Mr. Tsarapkin said he would do.
