303. For the Under Secretary. I had a satisfactory talk with General Eduardo Gomes.¹⁴ He emphasized his interest in obtaining the spare parts (item 1 of Air Ministry memorandum¹⁵).

Souza Costa,¹⁶ when he told me goodby this morning, emphasized that the principal object of his visit to Washington is “procurement of necessary armament”.
