195. Your 213, March 28, 2 p.m., and 219, April 1, 6 p.m.73 The Acting Secretary is today transmitting the following communication to the Bolivian Ambassador: [Page 599]
“Reference is made to the request of your Government for the cooperation of the Government of the United States in establishing an arrangement for the stabilization of the boliviano–dollar rate of exchange.
I am pleased to inform you that the Secretary of the Treasury has indicated that the Treasury Department is agreeable in principle to the conclusion of a stabilization arrangement with the Government of Bolivia and the Banco Central de Bolivia involving up to $2,000,000. The Secretary of the Treasury has further indicated that he is prepared to enter into at once conversations regarding the details of such an arrangement.”
