The Ambassador in Bolivia (Boal) to the Secretary of State
[Received October 12.]
Sir: I have the honor to refer to the Embassy’s despatch No. 647 of September 22, 1942,79 and to transmit herewith a copy in full translation of the Bolivian Foreign Office’s note dated September 25 in reply to my note of September 21,80 which protested a violation of the tin contract.
It will be observed that the Foreign Office’s note confirms the information that the Minister of National Economy had rescinded the export permit for the 25 tons of tin ore which was destined for shipment to Argentina, of which fact the Department was advised by the Embassy’s telegram No. 860, September 25, 5 p.m.79
The Foreign Office note also contains the welcome assurance that the necessary steps are being taken to avoid any exportations of minerals in the future which would not conform to existing contracts.
Respectfully yours,
