- Supplementing Department’s 201541 in which you have been advised that the United States Commercial Company cannot accept this proposal and that Metals Reserve Company has a contract for and the United States Government an agreement with the Colombian Government for all of that country’s platinum.

- The existence of conditions reflected in your telegram would seem to be evidence that some platinum which should go to Metals Reserve is not being obtained by it in spite of the cooperative attitude of the Colombian Government.
- 3.
- In order that this diversion or smuggling operation in Colombian platinum may be halted, the Department suggests you advise [Page 325] American Embassy at Bogotá of all the facts relative to this case for such appropriate action as that Embassy may be able to take.
