The Ambassador in Brazil (Caffery) to the Secretary of State
[Received May 21.]
Sir: With reference to the activities of the German-controlled Syndicate Condor airline in this country, I have the honor to enclose a copy and translation of a confidential report62 submitted by the Brazilian Chief of Staff, General Góes Monteiro, on May 9, 1941, to the Minister of War, recommending that the recently established Condor service in the states of Maranhão and Piauhy be suspended inasmuch as “these activities on the part of the Syndicate Condor at the moment are prejudicial to the interests of national defense.”
Respectfully yours,
Second Secretary of Embassy
