The Chargé in Germany (Morris) to the Secretary of State

Sir: Supplementing the Embassy’s despatch No. 4244 dated January 16, 1941, transmitting a copy of a further note to the Foreign Office requesting the immediate return of seven prints which belong to Loew’s Incorporated and which were seized by the German authorities from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer A. G. of Berlin, I have the honor to report that the Foreign Office has now finally acknowledged the Embassy’s notes of December 3, 1940,34 and January 14, 1941,35 stating [Page 624] that “it has requested the competent German internal authorities to give their consideration to the matter and will inform the Embassy accordingly in due course.”
