Your 957, July 29, 9 p.m. Should you be approached in connection with the possibility of Murphy visiting Vichy, you may reply that you have been informed by the Department that the present status of the arrangement as regards North Africa will necessitate his continued presence there for the time being. It is felt that he will be needed there to continue to supervise the operation of this agreement.
