117. Referring to our 116, March 26, 5 p.m.,3 the individual mentioned therein4 reports an important conversation today; he has received an unconfirmed report from a source which he has always found to be reliable that Algerian authorities are seriously considering shipping 5,000 tons of gasoline from stocks in that country to Tripoli.
He therefore suggests that an American control over petroleum stocks both civil and military in French North Africa be [apparent omission].
Repeated by telegraph to Tangier and Vichy and Vichy requested to repeat to Algiers and Tunis.
