The Ambassador in Japan (Grew) to the Secretary of State

Our 452, June 15, 6 p.m.82 We have been informed by an American correspondent that the Foreign Office has already given to the press an announcement concerning the reply to our representations made on June 15 as reported in our telegram under reference concerning the bombing of Chungking. Following is our translation of the Foreign Office note which was received late this afternoon:
