Please endeavor, through discreet inquiry, to ascertain (a) whether British banks or firms are now extending credits, short term or otherwise, to Japanese interests, (b) the method employed to “peg” the yen to the pound sterling and (c) if the method employed is the maintenance of gold or other deposits in British banks, whether credits are extended thereon.
