Your 81, October 2, 7 p.m. We handed the Danish Minister a copy of the oral message quoted in my 1117, September 29, 8 p.m. to London and informed him that we should be glad from time to time to exchange informally and in confidence information of common interest respecting trade between the United States and Denmark. No “conference” of any kind was proposed or contemplated.
Please inform the Foreign Minister at once. We shall similarly correct any misapprehensions on the part of Kauffmann.
