The Acting Secretary of State to the Ambassador in Germany (Wilson)

214. Your 664, November 28, 5 p.m. Rublee reported on November 2570 that he had been advised by an “unofficial” British source, presumably the one mentioned in your 647, that arrangements were being made, with Hitler’s consent, for Schacht to visit London within 2 weeks to confer with Rublee. Rublee was last night advised by the Foreign Office that Ogilvie-Forbes71 had been officially assured by the Reich Government that a high ranking emissary would proceed to London to confer with him in the immediate future.

Please check at once with the British Chargé.
