Memorandum of Conversation, by the Chief of the Division of the American Republics (Duggan)
The Bolivian Minister came in and inquired what information the Department had with regard to Bolivia and the recognition of the new régime. I informed the Minister of the consultation of this Government through its diplomatic envoys with the Governments of Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay. I also informed the Minister of the action which had been taken with respect to recognition by these various governments.
The Minister informed me that he had received a telegram from his Government dated La Paz, July 20, 8 p.m., stating that the following Governments had acknowledged the circular note:
- The Vatican
- Peru
- Brazil
- Chile
- Ecuador
- Italy.
