84. My telegram number 83.25 Saw President Leguia at 11:30 this morning. He said:
“Under no circumstances or conditions would I do anything in the slightest way to embarrass President Hoover for whom I have the greatest admiration. I shall ask to have the clause withdrawn immediately.”
He thoroughly agrees with your viewpoint, which he says is most logical. He will see the Chilean Ambassador at 12:30 today. Have you any further instructions or suggestions?
