The Ambassador in Perú (Poindexter) to the Secretary of State

Sir: I have the honor to refer to the Department’s cablegram No. 41 of September 11, 10 p.m., and to transmit herewith in Spanish and translation copy of a note just received from the Foreign Office,88 in response to representations made by the Embassy as directed in the cabled instruction under acknowledgment.

The Foreign Office note states that Don Glicerio Camino, Peruvian Chargé d’Affaires at Prague, will represent Perú at the forthcoming conference in Geneva for the further restriction in the traffic of narcotic drugs; and that that part of the Embassy’s note relating [Page 102] to restriction in the cultivation of the coca leaf plant has been communicated to the Ministry of Hacienda with a request for appropriate action.
