The Ambassador in Mexico ( Fletcher ) to the Secretary of State
Sir: Supplementing my No. 1183, of July 2, 1918, I have the honor to forward herewith a, statement showing the dates, amounts, and [Page 656] character of the specie taken from the Banco de Londres y México by the Mexican Government from January 17, 1917, to and including May 24, 1918.1 This statement is identical with enclosure 5, of my confidential despatch No. 427, of August 22, 1917,1 except that the present enclosure shows dates, amounts, and character of specie which has been taken from the bank since August 15, 1917. It will be observed that the total amounts taken from the Banco de Londres y México to May 24, 1918, total pesos 17,526,376.31.
