American Consul, Plymouth, reports British East Point, London for Philadelphia, torpedoed 9th, 5. p.m., about 15 miles west of Eddystone Lighthouse. East Point not warned, carried one gun aft, armed patrol boat near by. Crew of 45 left East Point in four; boats, all saved. John Webber of, 159 Fougeron Street, Buffalo, fireman, and Edward Ellis, 565 Cortland Avenue, Brooklyn, seaman, both American citizens, have made affidavits at Plymouth.
