Sir: Your No. 1069 of the 10th instant, inclosing a copy of correspondence relating to the restoration to the family of General Lafayette of the watch which accompanied my No. 652 of the 23d of October, has been received.
The manner in which you have executed the instructions of the Government, and the address with which you accompanied the restoration to his family of the watch, which had belonged to the early friend of this country, command the warm approval of the Department.
