No. 1259.]
Mr. Adams to Mr. Seward
Sir: In connection with your despatch No. 1820, of the 30th of July, I have now the honor to report that no person proved to be a native or a naturized citizen of the United States now remains in prison in Dublin under the at for suspending the habeas corpus. Two or three are still detained from ability to pay their passage money to get away.
I have not yet received any reply to my letter to Mr. Young at Belfast, from which I infer that he must have quitted his post before it reached there.
I have the honor to be, sir, your obedient servant,
Hon. William H. Seward, Secretary of State, Washington, D. C.
