Sir: Tour despatch of the 9th instant, No. 1081, transmitting a copy of Earl Russell’s last note to you in regard to the claims against Great Britain, growing out of the depredations on our commerce, and printed copies of memoranda, one of which relates to your representations to the British government concerning breaches of neutrality during the civil war, the others relative to the measures of coercion adopted by Great Britain during her contest with the North American colonies, and also regarding the policy of foreign powers, have been received. I wait for your promised copy of your note to Lord Clarendon.
