Sir: With reference to my note of yesterday, I have the honor to enclose for your information a copy of a telegraphic message which I have received from [Page 658] the administrator of the government of New Brunswick, in answer to a telegram which I despatched to him on receiving your note of the 18th instant, relative to information which had reached you that attempts were being made to organize a force in the neighborhood of St. John to commit depredations on the frontiers of Maine.
