Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your note of the 5th instant, and to inform you that I have lost no time in asking the governor of Newfoundland to enable me to furnish you with the information which you desire [Page 648] to obtain respecting a statement that three pardoned criminals had been sent from St. John to Boston.
