The National Archives Act of 1990 stipulates that access to the content of the archives can only be achieved with the permission of the Head Archivist. Essentially, documents are available after 40 years with the approval of the creating Ministry.

Procedures
Researchers should apply to the National Archives with a detailed request for access to its records. This can be done at the Archives. There are no restrictions on accessing the finding aids found in the Search Room. If permission is granted, there is a fee to view the Archives’ records.
