World Wide Diplomatic Archives Index: The Republic of Korea (South Korea)

Legislation

The Diplomatic Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has the authority to open materials more than 30 years old. The Act on Disclosure of Information by Public Agencies which went into effect in January 1998 gives South Korean citizens and foreigners resident in South Korea the right to request access to government records with exceptions for National Security.
