Legislation

Bolivia has several laws dictating access to archival material. Records at the National Archives are divided into the categories of ‘active’ and ‘inactive.’ The former are still in use by the government and are therefore unavailable. The latter are available for research. The creating department is responsible for transferring records from active to inactive.
