Department’s 1023, April 30.⁷¹ Swiss Legation, Tokyo, reports no requests received financial assistance American POW interned Japan and Japanese occupied territories. Believes this attributable poor provisioning camp canteens and sale only cheap articles. However, Swiss Legation endeavoring ascertain whether and how financial assistance may be accorded American POW Far East.
