My Dear Sir: I have received your note of April 29th in which you advise me of the sudden death of the Chief Magistrate of the United States, who was assassinated during a period of great national rejoicing.
Entertaining the same sentiments as yourself, this government cannot do less-than express its sincere sorrow for the unfortunate event.
