Termination of Mission: Reported that the Government of Venezuela refused to have further dealings with him on January 29, 1877- Russell left Venezuela on February 17, 1877. He returned to post on March 17, 1878, to present his letter of recall, but he left post again on March 19, 1878, having not presented the letter because the Government of Venezuela refused to receive it.
