75. Re Chinese representation. We agree with Paris Embassy’s comment (Embtel 283, July 21¹) that possibility French recognition Peking regime bears close watching. In view great importance this subject, I strongly recommend that we urge French Government to withhold such recognition. I also strongly recommend that we immediately endeavor get agreement from them, as well as UK, to abide by moratorium arrangement on admission ChiComs to UN.
