Editorial Note

Although the Department of State abandoned efforts to secure a significant economic aid program for the Near East and South Asia in 1950, the Bureaus of Public Affairs and Near Eastern, South Asian and African Affairs continued to draft plans and proposals on information policy regarding economic assistance to the area in order to stimulate Congressional and public interest in the subject.
