Town Commissioners of Bury

At a general meeting of the commissioners acting under and by virtue of the Bury improvement act 1846, held on the 3d day of May 1865, Mr. John S. Walker in the chair, it was moved by Mr. Thomas Grundy, seconded by Mr. Thomas Roberts, and carried unanimously—

That the commissioners, as the governing municipal body of the town of Bury, in the county palatine of Lancaster, desire to express their horror and sincere regret at the assassination of Mr. Lincoln, the late President of the United States of America, and to convey to the government and people of the United States their profound sympathy in the great loss they have sustained, and to Mrs. Lincoln their heartfelt condolence in her cruel bereavement.
