Fraternity of the People Lodge
[Translation.]
Address of the Lodge of the Fraternity of the People, in the east of Paris, to the American Free Masons, on the occasion of the death of Mr. Lincoln.
The Loge la Fraternité des Peuples has profoundly felt the great grief which has agitated the world on the receipt of the news of the horrible outrage to which F** Lincoln has fallen a victim. F** of America, the masons of France [Page 79] lament the irreparable loss of the virtuous citizen, of the great politician; but they know that with them and by them slavery will be annihilated, and that the sacred cause of liberty will shine forth in a great triumph which is at hand, a glorious compensation for the deep grief of this sad period.
